<< We had originally received a DAT under the name Pole... enclosing a new
e-mail address for him (which turns out to be nonexistent)... After cutting
the release, we
tried to contact Stefan to send him a test pressing, but he wasn't in
Berlin... we sent test pressings to HardWax... With production deadlines
encroaching, we decided to press 200 copies which we began to mail out...>>
Interesting that the label was completely unable to tell the difference
between the actual artist's product and somebody else's imitation...
Whoever happens to own an actual copy of this faux pas release...you really
ought to perform some IDM-list community service and put up an mp3 of it. Or
at least let people start bidding on it - do I hear $250? And if this is all
just a Fat Cat publicity stunt...nice job!
What does this say about the music of Pole? I like Pole, by the way, but I
can understand how a clever dick could pull off a sly Pole imitation.
Perhaps someone should sponsor an entire "Pole Imposter" compilation release.
I'll contribute a track. First, let me bash my Akai AX-80 with a ball peen
hammer and spill lager into it, so that it will produce unusal, unintended,
yet strangely compelling crackly bleeps.
